Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 · San José

Arrival at SJO. Check in to Grano de Oro Hotel — a landmark boutique in the city. Briefing from your guide.

Day 2 · Pacuare River

Transfer to river put-in. Full-day Class III–IV whitewater rafting on the Río Pacuare — one of the world’s top rafting rivers. Arrive by raft to Pacuare Lodge (all-inclusive, 2N).

Day 3 · Pacuare Lodge

Guided jungle trail walk through primary rainforest. Wildlife spotting: jaguars, tapirs, toucans. Suspension bridge walk above the river gorge. Full board.

Day 4 · Arenal

Raft down-river to the take-out. Private transfer →︎ Arenal. Arenal Observatory Lodge (2N) — built for naturalists, closest lodge to the volcano.

Day 5 · Arenal

Morning: hike the Lava Trail directly from the lodge. Evening: night walk to spot frogs, snakes and nocturnal mammals. Hot springs.

Day 6 · Manuel Antonio

Private transfer →︎ Manuel Antonio on the Pacific coast. Check in to Arenas del Mar Resort (all-inclusive, 2N) — set between two beaches.

Day 7 · Manuel Antonio

Guided tour of Manuel Antonio National Park — monkeys, sloths, scarlet macaws and Pacific beaches. Optional Pacific kayaking & snorkelling.
